Magna Carta Wines Dudlu ntombazane! 2019

Mphumi Ndlangisa's wines are special. He is one the few Zulu winemakers that exists in South Africa, and his approach to his winemaking has always been in the 'natural' vein. Low intervention, organic fruit, with very little (if any) additives.

Two of Mphumi's Syrahs are now available in the U.K. Both made the same way, but coming from different appellations and soil types. And so ultimately, this is an exercise in terroir.

This Syrah bottling is from Franschhoek, an idyllic little winemaking enclave in the Cape, surrounded by breathtaking mountain ranges. Here, the microclimate is slightly cooler, and the soils are limestone. The fruit is wholebunch fermented and pressed to old oak barrels for ageing.
