McFarlane Wines Monday's Child Chenin Blanc 2020

Alex McFarlane is an outrageously talented winemaker based out of Hemel-en-Aarde in South Africa. Her wines are brilliant. They're classic feeling, but with a youthful energy, and can stand up next to some of the finest bottlings coming out of South Africa.

For her Monday's Child 2020 cuvée, Alex uses fruit picked from the Polkadraai Hills in Stellenbosch. The name is of the vineyard is Bankrotsteen, and the granite, unirrigated soils here produce wines with incredible focus and concentration. The wine is fermented and aged in old 500L barrels, and the result is something really quite special. If you're a fan of warm vintage Burgundy, definitely give this a sniff.
